Description

The Coziest Cup We've Ever Roasted

Some coffees wake you up. This one settles you in.

Velvet Vanilla Cardamom is what happens when the warmth of a good vanilla bean meets the quiet complexity of cardamom two flavors that have been showing up together in kitchens across the Middle East, South Asia, and Scandinavia for centuries. Here, they meet in the cup. The vanilla is soft and sweet, never cloying. The cardamom is aromatic and gently floral, adding just enough spice to keep things interesting. Together, they wrap around a smooth, medium roast base like something you'd want to hold between both hands on a slow morning.

This is our chai-adjacent coffee not chai, exactly, but it gets that same feeling right. The warmth, the depth, the sense that the cup is doing something more than just delivering caffeine.

It's a flavored coffee done with intention. No artificial harshness, no candy sweetness. Just a cup that tastes like it was made for exactly this kind of moment.

Brew It Your Way

Drip Machine

Grind: Medium

Ratio: Your standard ratio

Time: Per machine cycle

Temp: 195–205°F

The easiest way in — vanilla and cardamom develop slowly through the cycle and meet in the cup as something warm, smooth, and fully rounded

French Press

Grind: Coarse

Time: 4:00 minutes

Press: Slowly

Temp: 195–200°F

Full immersion draws out the more aromatic, deeper side of the cardamom and gives the vanilla a softer, almost creamy body

Pour Over

Grind: Medium

Ratio: 1:15 (27g coffee : 405g water)

Time: 3:30–4:00 minutes

Temp: 200–205°F

A cleaner cup that brings the floral lift of cardamom forward — vanilla arrives on the finish, making every sip feel like it ends well

Latte / Milk Drink

Grind: Fine (espresso)

Shot: Double espresso

Milk: Oat or whole

Temp: Steam to 150°F

Our top recommendation — steamed oat milk softens the spice and lets the vanilla shine through in a way that makes this feel like a dessert without being one

Velvet Vanilla Cardamom Brewing Tips

  • A latte is the move — this is one of the few flavored coffees that genuinely tastes intentional as an espresso-milk drink. Oat milk is the pairing we keep coming back to
  • Keep water temperatures at or below 205°F; cardamom can turn sharp when over-extracted, and a medium grind is your safest starting point for any hot method
  • French press is ideal when you want maximum warmth and body — the oils stay in the brew and the cardamom gets rich and aromatic rather than bright
  • Pour over gives you the cleanest, most distinct expression of each flavor — if you want to taste what this coffee is actually doing, brew it this way first
  • Try it iced: brew double-strength drip or pour over directly over ice for a chilled vanilla cardamom coffee that holds the spice beautifully without bitterness
  • No need to add sweetener — the vanilla flavoring gives the cup a natural sweetness that reads as warm rather than sugary, especially with milk
  • Store whole beans in an airtight container away from heat and light; consume within 2–4 weeks of roast date for the fullest aromatic expression

Frequently Asked Questions

Warm, smooth, and gently spiced. The vanilla is the dominant note — soft and sweet — with cardamom underneath adding an aromatic, slightly floral complexity. It's not sharp or medicinal the way some spiced coffees can be. Think less "spice rack" and more "something someone's grandmother made."

It shares chai's spirit — warm spice, a little sweetness, a cozy finish — but this is still coffee at its core, not a tea blend. There's no cinnamon, ginger, or clove. Just vanilla and cardamom, which is actually how cardamom coffee has been enjoyed for generations in parts of the Middle East and Scandinavia.

No. The flavoring uses natural and artificial flavor compounds, but the calibration keeps the profile in check — the vanilla never tips into candy territory and the cardamom stays aromatic rather than sharp. It reads as intentional, not synthetic.

No added sugar. The sweetness you taste comes entirely from the vanilla flavoring. The coffee itself is unsweetened — you can drink it black or dress it however you like.

Yes and we'd actually encourage it. Espresso-ground Velvet Vanilla Cardamom pulled as a double shot, topped with steamed oat milk or whole milk, is one of the better things you can make with this coffee. It has enough aromatic depth to hold its own against milk without getting lost.

Flavor compounds can leave a light residue in your burrs over time. If you rotate between flavored and unflavored coffees, run a small purge of unflavored beans through between sessions to keep your grinder clean.
