Cafiza is the name behind the daily cleaning routine of espresso bars, cafés, and specialty coffee operations worldwide. These precision-formulated 2g tablets are specifically engineered for use in superautomatic espresso machines and are equally effective for backflushing traditional machines with a three-way valve. Frequently asked question
Both contain the same professional-grade Cafiza formula for removing coffee oils from espresso machine internals. The tablet format offers precise pre-measured dosing ideal for superautomatic machines and backflushing, while the powder format is preferred by some baristas for its flexibility in adjusting concentration for deep cleans and soaking applications.
Cafiza tablets are NSF certified for metal compatibility and safety, and are compatible with a wide range of commercial and domestic superautomatic and traditional espresso machines. Always follow your machine manufacturer's specific cleaning instructions to confirm tablet compatibility and the correct procedure for your model.
No. Cafiza is specifically a coffee oil and residue remover — it is not a descaler. To remove mineral scale and limescale from boilers and heating elements, use Urnex Dezcal Activated Descaler Powder or Dezcal tablets separately.
For traditional espresso machines, daily backflushing at the end of each service period is standard practice. For superautomatic machines, follow your manufacturer's recommended cleaning schedule — typically daily or every few days depending on volume.
The 200-count jar is sized for commercial café environments with high daily cleaning demands, multi-machine setups, or operations that prefer to purchase supplies less frequently. For lower-volume settings, Cafiza tablets are also available in a 100-count jar.
Yes. Dissolve one or more tablets in warm water to create a soaking solution for portafilter baskets and the metal portions of portafilters. Do not submerge plastic handles. Soak for up to 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
